A recurring observation when people buy a keyboard.io model 1 is that the long ethernet cable is long. too long.
Seriously, this cable is really too long for most of people who want to keep their keyboard split.
A quick DIY solution is to coil the cable using a rod and an hairdryer.
- Take a metal rod (a pen won’t do, it’s too short.)
- Coil the ethernet cable on the rod using tape to secure the two ends
- Take an hairdryer and heat up the coiled cable as uniformly as possible during 5-8 minutes (total guesswork here)
- Put the cable in your freezer to let it cool.
And voilà! The cable should memorize the coiled shape.
